Checking your brake fluid is easy, and can be done regularly at home. Locating the reservoir is also easy enough, under the bonnet on the driver's side towards the back of the engine, you should find it. In most new modern cars it is easy to see the levels without removing the cap, but in older used cars you will find that you will need to remove the cap to check the levels autel obd scanner.
Get into the habit of checking this regularly, remember, the quicker you spot if there is a leak or levels are low, the safer you will be!
If it does need filling, you can buy most fluids for your used car on the general market, but if the correct fluid is not used then the brakes will not work properly, so I would recommend using a registered garage to change of fill for you.

Normally, the fluid would be changed at the same time your used car is in for its scheduled service, when at the dealership, ask the adviser and make sure that this is done.
